So a couple of days ago I went into Rite Aid and saw bunches of new Fall collections. The one I was most excited for was the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick collection. This is apart of their Color Sensational line and I’m not sure if they’re limited edition but I’ll reach out to Maybelline and find out.
“Maybelline New York The Creamy Mattes by Color Sensational deliver a burst of bold lip color and a surge of creamy texture in make-a-statement shades, for mattes your lips will love to wear!”
There are a total of 10 lipsticks in the collection. The shades range from neutrals to pinks and reds.
For the last year Matte lipsticks have been really popular. Mid and high-end brands have been doing them for awhile but drugstore brands are now jumping on the bandwagon. We’ll probably see a bunch of matte lippies coming soon and since matte is my favorite finish I’m excited. (RIP to my wallet)
Faint For Fuchsia
My favorite of the 4. A really vibrant fuchsia pink.
A berry toned magenta. Not my fav but that’s based on preference. This shade would look good on all skin tones.
Not really a coral. It’s more of a blood orange. Normally I don’t find myself reaching for these shades because they pull redder on my skin tone but I really, really like this color. It’s the perfect mix of orange and red.
The perfect fall lipstick. This is really a hot color this season. I’ve been buying all the bricks and burgundy shades I can get my hands on.
Okay so these are really creamy. With a lot of creamy lipsticks they tend to apply unevenly but these don’t. The formula is amazing. Now about the matte part…. If you’re a MAC fan you know that the matte lipsticks they’ve been putting out aren’t exactly matte. They’ve been more like satin mattes. These Maybelline Creamy Mattes look the same. True mattes to me look really dry and the lipsticks themselves kinda have to be dragged on the lips. I don’t know if people were complaining about how dry the lipsticks were and how they weren’t the easiest to apply but I haven’t come across a true matte lip product in years. The definition of “matte” is flat and without shine. These clearly have some shine to them. I wish companies would get back to the true mattes.
Even with all of that I still love these lipsticks. The colors are awesome and the formula is really nice. They were $8 each at Rite Aid but I caught them on a BOGO50% off sale. These are some great lipsticks to add to your collection so go check them out. And come back to let me know what you think!
