Ok so I bleached my hair last summer and it has been breaking off and shedding ever since. I’ve tried treatments and everything to keep it from breaking off and avoid cutting it but nothing was working. I also stopped relaxing my hair; I am not joining team natural but I just wanted try other ways to straighten my hair.
Keratin and Brazilian treatments have been hot lately so I wanted to give it a try. Most in-home & salon Keratin treatments require washing the hair, applying treatment then flat ironing hair, washing your hair again, and blow drying and flat ironing again. Sounds like a lot of time and work huh? Plus those treatments will run you a few hundred dollars while lasting 2-3 months. Hell for those prices I could buy someone else’s straight hair and sew it in.
So when I got the chance to try Smooth ‘N Shine Keratin Power Kit and saw it was only 2 steps I jumped on it to see if keratin might be the route for me. It was very simple and quick to use. I was about 10 weeks post relaxer when I used this so I had about 2 inches of new growth. The treatment didn’t straighten my roots (it’s not marketed for that) but it did relax them some. I immediately noticed before and after blow drying when I combed my hair out there was little to no shedding. While before I used Keratin Power there was tons of shedding. I normally wash my hair every two weeks and by then my hair is very dry. After I used this my hair felt soft throughout the whole two weeks. So even though I didn’t get the straightening factor I wanted I was sold on the repair.
If you are natural and/or against chemical treatments then you might want to give Smooth ‘N Shine Keratin Power a try. If you want something that gives you the same results as a relaxer this isn’t for you. You can use it in-between relaxers if you want for a little freshen up. Smooth ‘N Shine Keratin Power Kit doesn’t claim to replace relaxers but help make your hair more manageable and that’s exactly what it did. It definitely made blow drying, straightening and keep up easier. I can see myself buying this but I will also be looking for an affordable in-home keratin treatment that straightens also.
