February’s Pillow box contained 5 products from 5 amazing brands:
Big Girl Cosmetics- Lip Shine- $9
Put on the first layer for a flirty look, but the second layer to scream scandalous! A sensational color range of wet look gloss, with ultra-shiny light reflections.
Smells like vaseline and applies unevenly but it’s moisturizing with a decent color payoff.
Georgia By G & Company- Luxury Skin Wash- 16 oz for $23
Georgia by G & Company has created a sumptuous beauty line which is subtle in scent and infused with pure ingredients. Georgia products allow the individual to be, simply beautiful.
Lamik Beauty- True Mineral Powder- .34 oz for $25

Pooka Pure and Simple- Shea Body Butter- 4 oz for $13
Pooka’s focus is to nourish the skin through their unique line of high quality products and provide natural alternatives to products on the market. By re-introducing tried and true natural ingredients used long ago, Pooka will help to naturally beautify the skin. They use wonderful oils from different nuts and vegetables, shea and cocoa butters, fruit powders, seeds and more! Pooka products contain no preservatives or dyes and no dangerous sulfates, parabens or phalates.
The mix of shea and avocado will smooth, moisturize, and nourish your skin.
Looooovvveeee it! I fell in love with body butters this winter because my skin has been so dry I’m pretty sure I could start a fire with my arms. It smells wonderful and crazy moisturizing without feeling heavy and oily. I’m a little disappointed at the label because a name was scratched out and written. It looks unprofessional, I don’t know if Pooka or My Shade of Brown did this but it’s the first box and not really a big deal. I’ll definitely be picking up a full size jar.
Yana Cosmetics- Foundation- 30 ml for $32
Yana Cosmetics is passionate about creating a range of makeup that is wearable by all skin tones. Whether your skin tone is light or dark or anywhere in between, Yana prides themselves with having the right color that will suit you! With 13 shades, Yana has you covered!
A luxurious, creamy, rich, pigmented foundation, non-oily with built-in highlighters that gives you an airbrushed finish.
The formula is thick and smooth and it seems like a foundation I’d like but I can’t wear it out to thoroughly test it because it’s too dark. While I love trying new foundation I just can’t recommend sample boxes send them out. Even though My Shade of Brown asks for your complexion in their beauty profile it’s not that precise and more than likely the foundation won’t match. That just leads to wasted product being sent out.
I’m happy to see a beauty sample box tailored for women of color come out. I’m not too familiar with brands for women of color so this was an enlightening experience. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for future My Shade of Brown boxes.
