We don’t live in a safe world and we probably never will. SafeTrek is an app that could possible save your life. Available for iOS and Android. It was $1.99 but is currently free. (Sorry I don’t know for how long)
I think a lot of us have preemptively dialed 911 without pressing send until we felt safe again. This app kind of does that but better.
The app works in 4 easy steps:
- If you are feeling unsafe, simply launch the app and hold your thumb down on the safe button.
- When you are safe, release your thumb and type in your 4 digit pin number.
- If the situation turns for the worse and you need help, simply release your thumb and do not type in your pin.
- Your local police will be notified of your location, name, and emergency.
Hopefully those last two steps will never apply to you but at least you’ll be proactively protecting yourself. Direct link: iOS.
“SafeTrek was developed by college students, for college students. After constantly receiving crime report emails and hearing stories from our friends about incidents that were occurring on campus, we decided to tackle the problem that the campus blue light system was failing to solve.”
