Coming from a person who has all type of skin issues I’m always willing to try any type of skincare products. I can’t afford all the high price treatments that I would probably help me, so I mostly buy drugstore products for my skincare needs. I have dry skin, suffer from hyperpigmentation, whenever my acne heals I develop brown spots, the list can go on. So when I was contacted to review a Microdermabrasion system I was all too happy to try it, hoping it would be the answer to my prayers.

Personal Microderm – FAQ
Q: What Is Microdermabrasion?
A: Microdermabrasion is an effective, non-surgical way to get rid of acne scars, fine wrinkles and sunspots by exfoliating the top layers of the skin. No chemicals or laser beams are used, only aluminum oxide micro crystals that gently sand your skin, leaving it smooth and fresh. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production by using a vacuum, helping your skin rejuvenate faster than normal. It removes the top layer of dead skin which stands as a barrier to the penetration of your cell renewal lotions and serums. Once the barrier is removed and the vacuum can bring the blood flow and collagens to the surface of the skin the topical’s are significantly more effective in aiding cell rejuvenation and healing.
Q: What Is The Difference Between Microdermabrasion And Dermabrasion?
A: Dermabrasion is a mechanical procedure that uses a power driver hand-held device to remove the top layers of the skin. It may need general or a local anesthetic, depending on the treated area. Derma abrasion lasts between a few minutes and two hours, depending on the depth and area of the skin resurfacing. After dermabrasion treatment, the skin is red, swollen and extremely sensitive for about 10 days. Dermabrasion can offer visible improvement by treating deep wrinkles, scars, and hyperpigmentation. Microdermabrasion is much less invasive. It can be performed in a beauty center, doctor’s office or at home, using a personal home microdermabrasion kit. A doctor uses a sandblaster-like hand-held device to spray and circulate high pressure flow of aluminum oxide crystals onto the skin. The home units uses a spinning disc that is cleaner and not near as messy.
Q: Is Micro Abrasion Suitable For Me?
A: If the goal is to get rid of superficial blemishes, blotchy skin, large pores, reduce the appearance of brown spots, fine wrinkles or uneven skin tone and texture, you are a perfect candidate for micro Dermabrasion. All skin types and colors can be treated with microdermabrasion. But before you go ahead, pay careful attention to your medical history or any skin issues that you have because there are conditions which may make microderm abrasion unsuitable for you.
Q: What Can Micro Dermabrasion Do For Me?
A: Microderm abrasion can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of facial blemishes, evens skin tone, diminishes the appearance of white and black heads, minimizes large pores and revitalizes dull skin. Microdermabrasion helps skin regeneration by increasing its elasticity and collagen production. The skin looks fresh and feels smooth as soon as treatment is over. With micro abrasion, there is no recovery time and little to no discomfort.
PMD is a personal at home solution for microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium that exfoiliates to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis. I’ve read that mircodermasion can help with fine lines, dry skin, brown spots and uneven skintone, which are some of my main skincare concerns.
It’s important that you read and follow the instructions when using this system. I have sensitive skin and I was scared to use it at first because applying the system too hard or too long on your face can temporarily cause burning and scaring. So I watched the short instructional DVD and read some reviews to get some tips how to successfully use the product. As soon as I put it on my face I jumped back, it feels like your skin is being vacuumed and buffed at the same time. It didn’t hurt at all, I just wasn’t expecting that feeling. It was extremely easy to use and the process only took about 10 minutes to use on my entire face. The dead skin left white flakes while being buffed off , so it was easy to make sure I didn’t go over the same area twice. The entire process was extremely easy and painless.
The system comes with 2 types of discs, 4 blue discs for sensitive skin and 2 green discs for tough skin/trouble spots. Each disc should last for 3 or 4 treatments, so if you use all the discs that come with the system you won’t need to purchase anymore for 8 treatments. You can purchase 6 replacement discs for only $14.80.
Overall, I’m happy with the results from PMD so far. My face has never, in my adult life, felt the way it feels after I use this. When I wake up the next morning after I use PMD my skin feels so soft, clean, and looks brighter. I have also noticed that some acne scars lighted a little bit. PMD says that you should notice the reduction of fine lines and blemishes after 5 treatments. I use this twice a month and I will say it’s been great for my winter skin.
We all know I’m about beauty on a budget on this blog, so at $179 this product is a bit expensive, but ONE microdermasion session can easily cost $75-$200. So if you need microdermabrasion then you might want to consider PMD Personal Microderm as a cheaper alternative to those expensive treatments at spas and the dermatologist. Plus you can use it on your own time and in the comfort of your home.
