Ahhhhhhh I’m so excited to share with swatches from the New Essie Retro Revival Collection! Essie opened up their vault and brought back 6 iconic shades for their 35th anniversary. These sought after shades will be available in January 2016 for $8.50 each. Oh and yes Starry Starry Night is back!
Starry Starry Night (born 1985)
This twinkling midnight blue isn’t the star of the collection for no reason. Before rumors of a re-release, bottles are these were going for hundreds of dollars on Ebay. Starry Starry Nights is one of the most wished for polishes of all time. It’s already sold out for pre-order on essie.com. So if you’re not already convinced you NEED this polish you absolutely do. Who knows when you’ll see it again. I used 2 coats and the middle finger has Essie Matte About You on top.
Life of the Party (born 2002)
Described as a pinot noir pearl. In my opinion it’s better than a pearl and not a frost. And can you see that gorge subtle shimmer in her?
Bikini with a Martini (born 2006)
A frosted iridescent pink. It’s very sheer alone so I put it over white undies and still had to use 3 coats. I love iridescent polishes and it would be very beautiful if I was opaque. It’s best to use this over a solid shade for a nice pop.
Sequin Sash (Born 2005)
Back in the day polishes sure were thin. Sequin Sash is a sheer glittery bronze. I used 5 coats above. She’ll look amazing over a natural solid shade. *hint hint* Make sure you’re following me on Instagram.
Birthday Suit (Born 1981)
Yes, you read that right NINETEEN EIGHTY ONE. Birthday suit was part of the 12 original Essie shades. It’s a semi (almost transparent) creme nude. I used 4 coats and the middle fingers has undies. As you can see it can be built up but it’s most definitely retro.
Cabana Boy (Born 2005)
Now you know I love this pearly white grey. It’s really like a grey/silver/white that’s a little iridescent. Essie was way ahead of the trend with this beauty. I used 2 coats.
Well there you have it doll faces. The entire Essie Retro Revival Collection. Don’t be bummed at the sheer shades, remember this collection is retro. They can most definitely be used over solid shades and I know you can create some fun looks with them. My favorites are Starry Starry Night (of course), Cabana Boy and Bikini With A Martini. I’ll be getting backup of those.
Will you be shopping this collection? It’ll be available on Essie.com and in stores next month. Hopefully those stores will include Ulta. I know Rite Aid will have it. You can pre-order all except SSN on Essie’s site. If you want something for this collection I suggest you call and stalk stores starting at the very end of this month, they’ll definitely be gone fast.
