So I’m very excited to share this with you guys. This is probably one of the best beauty products I have. *drumroll* insert
CUSTOM NAIL SOLUTIONS!
Custom Nail Solutions are artificial custom nails. What’s the difference between acrylics or your drugstore press on nail? A lot!!! Custom Nail Solutions are custom fit for your nailbeds. They have that perfect look of acrylics but apply like press ons and they last longer than both! They also don’t chip, crack, or stain!
When you order your Custom Nail Solutions kit you’ll get a small box filled with finger trays putty to take your nail impressions, order form and informationals.
There’s an instruction sheet in the box but I suggest you watch the Impressions How-to video on CustomNailSolutions.com. It is VERY IMPORTANT to take your time and follow the instructions exactly. The impressions process would be easier if you have someone to help you. I did it by myself but it took a little longer (about 90 mins).
Give yourself a good manicure & wash and air dry your hands before taking your impressions.
Work quickly but accurately once you mix the puddy because it will start to dry and harden.
Make sure you line your finger up correctly in the finger trays or you could end up with crooked nails. (I had to reshape some of mine because of this)
I messed up a few times by fudging some impressions but I had enough putty for 4 redos. Trust me on this, watch the impressions video a few times before you begin and follow the instructions exactly! I thought I was a hot-shot and could rush through the process but luckily my nails fit. If you don’t take good enough impressions you could be looking at $24 fee per nail for reimpressions. I’m probably freaking you out and making you nervous, the process isn’t hard it’ll just work out great for you if you follow the video.
Another awesome thing about Custom Nail Solutions is that they’re available in 5 different lengths (I got active length), 3 shapes, 2 smile lines and 2 styles! You can order different lengths and styles later on without taking your impressions again. They keep your impressions on file!
Once you finish your impressions fill out your order form, put everything back in the box and slap on that prepaid return label. Within 3 weeks you’ll receive your final nail kit!
Your final kit includes:
- 1 Set of Custom Nails
- 1 Bottle Soak Off
- 1 Soaking Dish
- 1 Nail Dehydrator
- 1 Adhesive Debonder
- 1 Nail Protector
- 1 Nail Cleanser
- 1 Nail Brush
- 4 Pink Cuticle Sticks
- 1 Nail Stand with 10 Plastic Dowels
- 1 Application Instruction Sheet
- Pink Maintenance Kit Bag
I choose pink nails instead of French tips because I didn’t want the French tip peeking through my polish and I just hate French tip nails anyway. If you paint your nails a lot I’d go with the pink.
Applying the nails is very easy, you basically just give your real nails a manicure and glue these suckers on just like you would press on nails. Now I have to admit I was skeptical about how long they would last. Cuz when I glued on my press ons way back in the day they lasted for like a day or two. The first time I put them on I had 2 nails on each hand come off between day 7-10. I put them back on but the other nails started feeling loose so I just soaked them all off on day 14. Now Custom Nail Solutions said the nails will last longer after the first apply. They were right, the second round I only had 1 nail of each hand come off and that happened on day 10 and 11. I soaked them all off on day 14 only because I wanted to. Custom Nail Solution says the nail application will last between 10 days to 4 weeks but the average person will get 2-3 weeks of wear. Wear time also depends on how fast your nails grow. My nails grow fast so I’m not expecting each wear to last over 2 weeks. If you don’t want to worry about you nail randomly popping off I would reapply them every 7 days.
If you’re concern about damage to your nails I can tell you I see little to no damage whenever I soak them off. They definitely don’t damage your nails like acrylics.
Let’s talk about painting them! You can paint these nails like 40 times a day and they won’t damage the nails at all. You can use base coat and top coat or whatever. Paint like they’re yours! They even recommend you use acetone to remove your polish so removal is quick and easy. With acrylic nails you have to be careful using polish remover to repolish your nails or the acrylic will soften and breakdown. And forget about using acetone on acrylics! TUH!
All the supplies included in the final kit should last you a long time but you can repurchase any of the items from Custom Nail Solutions. Honestly the only thing I’d reorder is the glue, everything else you can restock from the beauty supply store.
Now there are some cons.
The final kit doesn’t include everything you need. There are a couple of items they (and I) recommend you have like lint free nail wipes and manicure tools like files/clippers. You can get all the extra items pretty cheap at any beauty supply store but I wish I didn’t have to find out about these non-included items when I sat down to apply to nails and watched the video. Luckly I had all these items on hand when I spent $150 on professional grade products when I was trying to do my own acrylics (I failed miserably, don’t ask). Oh if you want to utilize the included nail stand to paint your nails on you’ll need a glue gun (like I’m going to buy a glue gun. As if.) If I wanted to paint the nails while they were off I just stuck them on some double-sided tape so they wouldn’t move and painted them. If you don’t have any patience to wait for your nails to dry or you don’t do the best job at polishing than the option to paint them before applying is a pro for you.
I also had to reshape almost every nail because they were crooked. I put most of the blame of myself because it’s quite possible my fingers weren’t lined up correctly in the finger trays when I took impressions. You can use the file they provide to shorten and reshape your nails easily, just take your time. If you ruin them with the file you’ll have to reorder and spend $14 for each nail. Custom Nail Solutions recommends you not alter them until after the first wear and I agree. The nails looked weird to me at first but I didn’t reshape them until my third wear.
If you’ve been following me on Instagram and twitter you’d know I love these nails! I honestly swear by them. I have hundreds of bottles of polish but yet I never painted my nails unless I had to do swatches. Polish chips after like 2 days on my real nails and they break easily. Acrylics can be very damaging and expensive to upkeep. I find myself painting my nails all the time now that I have Custom Nail Solutions. I’m buying new polishes every week and even ordered tons of nail art supplies. These nails are so easy, DURABLE and long-lasting. There’s not one person who I wouldn’t recommend these to. THEY ARE FREAKING AMAZING. I need to order the stilettos length ASAP. Custom Nail Solutions are my new best friends and I’ll never ever leave them. You can have fantastic nails for just $140 (when they go on sale there normally $100) I’ll never have to visit a salon again!
